A quick note from the dead of night...
I feel obligated to put this brief update out there as I’ve recently gained many new subscribers. I will publish another edition before Monday covering a few aspects of true crime right now, but in the last week a few factors combined to slow my updating pace. Here are three:
- My mother is going into her second month hospitalized in Tennessee. I adore my mother and feel uncommonly blessed to at 55 years old still have both my parents. So her situation takes up a lot of mental and emotional energy.
- I have a night job, and I’m still relatively new at the gig and want to establish a good relationship with the people paying me. So I try to husband my energies in a way that benefits my job, meaning sometimes I dial back blogging, Substacking or random social posting (this could change if I acquire enough paid subscribers to excuse making this my full-time job. Just saying.).
- My wife caught COVID again. She’s fine, virtually asymptomatic, but still...it’s COVID. It’s like living with a malevolent ghost. It’s always there, throwing shadows, mocking your affection for, you know, being alive.
I’m also beginning rehearsals for a show I’ll be doing with a theater group in Rhode Island, and that takes up new tranches of mental AND physical energy.
So I’ve had a week of daily recalibrating of my situation, reorganizing my knowledge. Shit like that.
I finally know how to handle *gestures wildly* all this, and that means, if nothing else, you can expect a lot more consistency.
